Fightin Texas Aggie. WHOOP!
Climbing the Australian Alps in the rain.
Wearing my hair in a messy bun.
"I want people to know the real me — the one who always has something spilled on her shirt, rocks a messy bun 75% of the time, and lives in workout clothes. The one who is constantly reaching for new goals and dreams — but is always secretly freaking out about what could be."
After graduating from Texas A&M (Whoop!) with a degree in Entrepreneurship and Event Management, I was eager to start my life. Within a very short time frame, I married my loving husband, moved to South Texas, but was missing one thing. What was I going to do for work?
I always thought I would own my own Corporate Event Planning firm, but I figured it would be 10-20 years down the road. After three long weeks and searching high and low for a job that would actually pique my interest, I finally gave in. There was a little voice (Actually more like “The Big Guy Upstairs”) telling me that I am called to serve others through my ability to plan.
I decided to listen to that voice, and jumped in head first. I calculated the beginning costs of the business, created a marketing plan, and finished the initial design of my website, In June of 2015, Touch of Whimsy was officially born. The name just came to me one day. I didn’t contemplate the name for long — I just knew. It describes me perfectly. I’m calm, cool, and collected on the outside, (with the occasional minor freakout on the inside) and a “touch of whimsy."
Smell of rubber cement! (Let's get crafty!)
I LOVE PIZZA without the cheese.
Hi! My name is Katie Clark. I love to bake, summers in Maine, J.Crew, stripes, cold weather, and walks with my rescue pup, Conor. I graduated from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky in 2009 with a degree in Design, Merchandising, & Textiles. I have been very fortunate with each and every opportunity I have had since then.
After college, I started my career at Anthropologie on their visual team which took me to Boston, MA. I decided I want to try out a different passion and became a makeup artist with Christian Dior and I loved every minute of it! Then an opportunity with Alex & Ani came my way that was too good to pass up and I traveled all around New England setting up bangle bars at various events and sharing the brand's message with people. In 2013, I was hungry to get back into the visual world and took an opportunity with Tory Burch as the visual manager and most recently at Neiman Marcus as a visual stylist.
After moving a few times while I was young my family settled in Connecticut, which is where I grew up and will always be home! I moved to San Antonio in June 2015, three weeks before my wedding (back in Connecticut!) on July 4, 2015. I have been told since I was about 15 that I should be a wedding planner and now that it coming true! I can't wait to meet you and make your wedding dreams a reality!
Going to the Olympics and World Series.
Candles, candles, and more candles.
Favorite time of year: Football season.
In 2012, I got engaged to my elementary school crush after dating for over 3 years. I dove into the wedding planning and fell in love with it! I loved every detail of the planning process, researching vendors that fit our needs, designing the perfect layout, and adding special touches that fit us as a couple.
After our wedding day, I found that friends and family were always asking me for wedding advice as they were planning their own special days. They seemed stressed or didn’t know what do to about certain parts of the planning process. I would always jump in and help when help was needed. Then, the wedding coordinator that I hired for our wedding reached out to me to coordinate a wedding for her that she could no longer do. I was thrilled!
I loved helping everyone else, but had never had the opportunity to be paid for what I had grown to love. I was excited to see if I still loved it after officially being someone else’s wedding coordinator/planner. Sure enough, I did love it just as much and couldn’t wait to be involved in one again.
A dear friend of mine later introduced me to Kelsea and Touch of Whimsy, after knowing my itch to get into wedding planning officially, and it has been the best experience meeting with all our brides and helping them with their special day. I am so thankful that I get to do something I love!
