Personal

We are back this week with another introduction but this time with a new member of the ToW team. Meet Cheyanne Astin, Director of Planning

Hey everyone!

I am so excited to be apart of this team and work with incredible women and beautiful brides! Not to be cliche or anything but this is pretty much my dream job. I help on the front lines with inquiries, plan some of our incredible events, and help with other small things behind the scenes, like the blog! 🙂 I’ve spent the last 10 years in the tourism industry as an event coordinator and sales manager. It’s easy to say I have learned a lot and met some incredible people. Through the years I developed a love for special events. I have since had the pleasure of designing and coordinating a little bit of everything including, weddings, team building, corporate events and more.

I met Kelsea last year (2019) when I needed a change and she was ready for a little extra help. Cue our new year with a new team. Touch of Whimsy has been a great new chapter in my life and I cant wait to see what’s in store this year.

A little bit about me

I’m sitting here watching the 77th Golden Globes a few days late because that’s what I do. I’m not a huge reality tv fan but I can definitely get behind some award shows. Anywho, I’ve been married for about 3 years now to my incredibly charming but silly, husband. He’s seriously my rock and is always available for a terrible dad joke whether I need it or not. We were best friends for years and then dated for a few. He proposed the night he graduated from the San Antonio Police Academy.  Both were huge steps for us but have been the best decisions of our lives. Our wedding was a blast! It was in the fall and the perfect breeze blew in just as I started walking down the aisle. We wrote our own vows, had fantastic food and danced a lot!

We work hard and play harder, and by that I mean we really just chill on the couch watching whatever new tv series we are about at the time or go for hikes. We love to hike! National parks and other smaller state parks. It helps living in the hill country, there are so many pretty places to hike. Our honeymoon was spent on a road trip out west to see the Grand Canyon and Zion National Park. Zion in Utah has been one of my favorites so far and I can’t wait to go back.

Aside from hiking, I love to read. I use to stick strictly to historical fiction (I mean who doesn’t love Outlander), but recently I’ve been picking up a little of everything. Motivational, mystery, with a little historical fiction still peppered in there. A couple of friends and I try to read the same books around the same time so we can all talk about it, very book club-style but not as strict. We try to keep it fun and light so we will all actually want to read. I’m always looking for recommendations so if we ever meat fill free to let me know what you’ve been reading. here are a few of my favorites from his past year.

Educated by Tara Westover,

Everything is Figureoutable by Marie Forleo, and

City of Girls By Elizabeth Gilbert.

Travel

Roger and I can’t wait to have kids and grow our family but one of my goals before having kids was to travel some. And that’s just what we did.

My dream destination. Scotland. So we did it, we booked the flights and hostels. We were lucky enough to have friends to stay with along the way. We traveled to Munich, Germany, where we stayed with a friend then all of us toured Edinburgh all the way to the Isle of Skye in Scotland. Let me tell you, we were not disappointed! It was incredible! We booked our tour through Highland Experience tours and could not have been more pleased. Seriously the trip of a lifetime. We also got to visit a quaint little village in France. we sang songs picnicked by a lake and just laid in the sun. There were macaroons by the dozens and any other delicious thing you could think of. Cheese and grapes, a lot of cheese and grapes. Overall it was better than expected, minus some terrifying train transitions.

We spent the rest of that year (2018) traveling even more. With a quick trip to Hawaii and a big hiking trip to Big Bend. After growing up moving around a lot it’s nice now to be able to get out of town for a while to see the world. I get a little restless being in the same spot for so long but taking little trips here and there helps a lot and the scenery is usually pretty nice too.

Random things…

Ok other random things to know about me… hmm…

I have a couple of dogs, Alpha, and Gryffin. Alpha is a rescue and Gryffin and a Goldendoodle. both are very spoiled.

My husband and I bought our first home a couple of years ago. it’s in an older neighborhood with nice big trees. we live in San Antonio but New Braunfels still feels like home. Hoping to one day make it back.

I have a couple of younger sisters that mean to world to me and are my best friends.

Speaking of friends, I’ve rewatched the series at least 5 times. It never gets old. Also when your young and can’t afford cable and all you have is a box set of friends and Greys Anatomy you learn to like what you got. lol

Yes, I still watch Greys Anatomy.

I’ve tried to garden but my dogs ate everything, so maybe we will give it another try this spring.

The fall is my favorite season, being outside, opening my windows when its cool out and burning candles.

Crockpot meals, it’s so perfect to come to the smell of something cooking.

Broadway! I love a good show. Hamilton being one of my favorites! “IF YOU DONT KNOW NOW YOU KNOW”

Well, hopefully, we get to meet sometime in the future, and who knows possibly work together.

Until then if you haven’t met our founder and lead lady, check her our here Kelsea Vaughan. We will be introducing more team members through the month so stay tuned. Next week we will meet Bella!
