Meet Kelsea Vaughan, Full Service Wedding Planner of Touch of Whimsy

Personal

This week we are starting our newest blog series.

For the next four weeks, we will be showing you the personal side of Touch of Whimsy. Get to know each of our team members and their families. Up first….our Founder, Lead Designer, and Full Service Wedding Planner….Kelsea Vaughan.

Hey, y’all!

My name is Kelsea Vaughan — Founder, Designer, Wife, Mama, Cross-fitter, Lover of Margaritas, Dancing Queen, and Full Service Wedding Planner in San Antonio, Texas. That’s me in a nutshell..oh and Gig’em Ags. 🙂

((P.S. — I keep getting asked where my black and white sweater is from…My favorite store…Altar’d State. They are my favorite for so many reasons. The quality is amazing, the people are so helpful and friendly, each piece has a unique style, and they stand for a purpose that matters.))

I started Touch of Whimsy soon after marrying my husband, J.Boyd. He is sweet, southern, goofy, charming (or at least he thinks he is lol), an incredibly hard-worker, and a great dad. He’s spent countless nights helping me process flowers, building structures, organizing our garage/inventory, and picking me up when I’ve had a tough day. He is truly one-of-a-kind and a huge part of the success of Touch of Whimsy. We got married in the Summer of 2015 at Pecan Springs Ranch in Dripping Springs (wedding capital of Texas).

Our day was perfect and not in the “nothing went wrong” kind of way but in the “wedding bliss” type of way. Do you know what I mean? Our entire wedding party helped set linens, flowers, napkins, koozies, signs…the list goes on and on. My poor parents were worked to the bone and happy to do it. They are just wonderful in that way. They are hard-working and have huge hearts. It was such a blessing to see the love that everyone poured out for J.Boyd and I. That day I married my best friend. It was the best decision I’ve ever made.

The one mistake we made with the wedding was not budgeting for a coordinator. We had help from plenty of families, but that meant that the family was literally working all day instead of enjoying the beautiful celebration of our families joining. If I could go back, I would gift a coordinator to my parents and family in a heartbeat. They deserved it more than I did, as a bride. This idea spurred the entire “Why” of my business. Everything we do strives to help the “girl-next-door”. The girl that wants a nice wedding, but even more than that wants to celebrate with her family and enjoy this new chapter in her life.

Building a Life

Fast forward two and a half years of building a business and a marriage. Jameson, our crazy little munchkin, comes into our world and changes everything. He changed the way I look at so many things in life. Jameson is sweet, quiet, kind but with a little attitude (sadly gets that from me), and super silly. He loves to play outside, read books, dump out all the puzzles and then run away, and play in his new kitchen. He brings so much joy and laughter into our home. Lastly, he started a new chapter in our lives — parenthood.

In my spare time, I love to CrossFit, drink wine with friends, and go dancing. If the music is on you might just catch me bust a small move where no one can see lol.

Fun Facts

I hope you’ve enjoyed this little glimpse into my life as a mom, entrepreneur, and wife. Here are a couple more fun facts about me.

  1. My husband and I are the loudest and proudest members of the Fighting Texas Aggie Class of 2014.
  2. Two-stepping is one of my all-time favorite date nights.
  3. Jameson is named after J.Boyd (James Boyd)…not whiskey
  4. I am super shy unless I am talking about weddings or flowers.
  5. My jokes are super corny — like bad “dad joke” kind of corny.
  6. I love Jesus with all my heart and I hope to show that love to others through our work at Touch of Whimsy

With Love,

Kelsea Vaughan
