While you’re probably out on the prowl looking at wedding venues, a few things like this may cross your mind: 1. “Aww this venue is so gorgeous, but I think so-and-so got married here.” 2. “Is this venue going to fit all of my guests???” 3. “Hmm…this just doesn’t seem like “us”.” If you’re having these thoughts, let me tell you…there are actually many different places that you may get married other than a wedding venue! Here are a few unique wedding locations that you might want to consider for your upcoming nuptials.
-
Museums
The first stop on our list of unique wedding locations is museums! Art museums, natural history museums, city museums, air and space museums, and even children’s museums have spaces you can rent after hours! You will have exhibits as your backdrop (like a huge Triceratops Rex, or a historic airliner jet), which are not only amazing and awe-inspiring, but also great conversation starters for guests. For even more fun, ask whether the staff can provide guided tours or open exhibits for the guests to enjoy during cocktail hour!
2. City, State, and National Parks
Parks provide some of the prettiest natural backgrounds you can find, for the small cost of…FREE! As a result, your photos and memories will be just as natural and awe-inspiring. While parks are the perfect spot for a smaller, more intimate wedding, pulling off a wedding on the grander scale can be done too. Just scout out your perfect scene and do a little research. Some public spaces require you to apply for a permit ahead of time and will have some restrictions as far as bringing sound, equipment, rentals, food, and drinks. A park is also a great spot for the wedding ceremony. Contact us today for assistance planning your wedding at one of these locations. Creating a venue from scratch can be more challenging than meets the eye.
3. Conservatory or Botanical Gardens — San Antonio Botanical Gardens
Have always imagined getting married surrounded by beautiful flowers and plants, consider having your wedding at a local botanical garden or conservatory. Besides unique and beautiful flora, many gardens have pretty fountains and ponds, tree-lined paths, gorgeous flower beds, or even an ethereal greenhouse which would be not only the perfect place to marry, but also to hold your reception. If you decide that this spot is for you, you wont need to spend a lot of money on having your own flowers, you can decorate with candles, lights, and different types of jars instead!
4. Boats
Do you and your fiancé love to have getaways to the coast now and then? Plan to wed on any type of vessel, whether it’s a sailboat, riverboat, or yacht. Your guests will love the atmosphere, and your photographer will be able to get all kinds of different photos with the changing background throughout the day. Whatever you decide to do, make sure the vessel has enough room for as many guests as you are planning on having.
5. The “One-of-a-kind” Unique Wedding Location | Rental Home
Finally, the last stop on our the list of unique wedding locations uses sites like AirBnB.com and VRBO.com. Incase you didn’t already know these sites are all the rage right now! Have you ever thought about having an intimate wedding in a large tuscan style villa, or quaint country cottage? These sites provide every style and size of home available to accommodate your wedding. These are truly one-of-a-kind locations. PLUS…your wedding party or family can use it as lodging for the nights before and after your wedding. That sounds like a win-win to me! Am I right? Be sure to ask for permission from the owners before booking. Most require a written agreement to host a party.
Now that you know of some of unique wedding locations to get married, find something that fits you! Maybe you and your fiancé enjoy hiking and a National Park with an amazing background is more your style. Or, maybe you and your fiancé love to be out on the water. A wedding on a boat might suit you best. You really can’t go wrong! For more ideas contact us. We’d love to assist you in finding the perfect, unique wedding location for you!
